The tour highlights medieval Old Town with its cobbled stone streets, squares and courtyards, as wels as most popular tourist sites: Dome Square and Cathedral, Riga Castle, Town Hall and the House of Blackheads, Swedish Gates, Jacob’s Barracks, Liivs’ Square etc.
The City Centre boasts green parks and Boulevard Semi-circle around which you will see Latvian National Opera House, the Monument of Liberty, National Theatre, National Art Museum, Latvian University, as well as of course the charming Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) area with beautiful houses and Art Deco style.
Jurmala is Latvia's summer resort town proud of its charming wooden architecture and unique natural resources – therapeutic thermal waters, peat mud, pine forests, healthy maritime climate, dunes and beaches covering 32.8 kilometres.
During the tour you can also include a visit to Jurmala Open-air Museum.
A 19th century fisherman’s farmstead has been created in the museum with old, characteristic buildings – the dwelling house, the cart-house with a barn, a net shed, a shed for curing fish, a bathhouse, and other buildings. These buildings were transferred to the museum from various fishermen’s villages in Jūrmala.The museum also houses a collection of anchors and fishing boats, and also the rope making workshop - the largest collection of ropes in Latvia.
It is possible to include tastings of smoked fish and Latvian beer during the visit in the museum. This has to be booked in advance.
